new process that I,m working out that is a basic summation of what I've learned at school. Block in the shapes in 8 key grey scale, apply color in Corel Painter, and then soften edges and render. Have the last step to go but here is the progress so far

Currently concepting an environment for a personal project. After sketching ideas in my sketchbook, these were the best thumbnails that will be used for production paintings. Did these thumbnails after seeing Robh Ruppel's process work. Robh produces great work, and he uses basic geometric shapes to create dynamic thumbnails. As Robh says, "if it reads well as flat, poster shapes, then the final render with details will be even better." Also looked at a good deal of work from the Hudson River School. Epic landscapes is what they created, and they are magnificent. Look at Frederic Church, Savrasov, or Bierstadt for some inspiring images.

Did this after watching a Sparth demo in New Orleans. He was quite inspiring nonetheless

Good times with Rednecks!!!
rednecks are some of the most ingenious people... although they lack funds, they can get anything to work. Imagine if a redneck got ahold of sci fi equipment though. I did, and here are the results.
A beaver dam busting flamethrower, rigged from a can of WD-40 and a bicycle handle bar and brake, the brake is the trigger
A 20 round capacity pump action shotgun, complete with night vision optics
An airboat without class. Lay - Z - Boy captains chair, BBQ at the helm, and a collapsible toilet at the bow.
Enjoy and take care

Note: these are still WIP as far as rendering goes
What a joy it was to see the last adjustments made to this piece. This is by far the most I have concepted for an environment piece, and the most rewarding to conclude. I had to ask and answer, "who are these people, why are they isolated from the greater population, what type of technology do they employ in their daily affairs, are they peaceful or aggressive, do giant lizards live with them (yes!), what do they value, what are their religious beliefs, are they vegetarian (thank you Mr. Buffington) and on and on.. and to me, that research, where you get to delve into everything from National Geographic to Frank Lloyd Wright to John Carter of Mars (and thus, Ryan Church, that concept art book is beautiful), thats where the gravy is. Enjoy the piece. Take care.

For an upcoming art show, i decided to revisit a favorite piece I did last summer to see if my practice over the past few months could make this piece even better; and the results were great. Take care and hope you enjoy

I have the opportunity to design an environment for a great project! After ideating with the director, we decided to design the tribal farming village first ( the setting is an ancient race of people that are very technologically sophisticated and have the upmost respect for mother earth: "they swim with the current, always!") During the initial stage of ideating, we decided to design a village with abnormal verticality. After that, we parted ways and I made these thumbnails. The last one (bottom right) was  picked by the director. Next, I am going to play around with this concept and see what comes out> Feedback, as always, is welcomed!
